Everything Your Parents Told You NOT to Talk About
Everything Your Parents Told You NOT to Talk About:
By initiating uncomfortable conversations, we can learn & change for the better.
This was a newsletter title in my inbox & it got me thinking of the group I traveled w/ on the #BLUE trip last week. We met for the 1st time @ the airport & it was apparent that we were all VERY different.
Shortly after landing, we were engaging in uncomfortable conversations across culture, religion, race, gender, socio-economic status, politics & more. Everything you're told not to talk about, we talked about.
Guess what happened? We didn’t get in each other’s faces. We put judgement aside & engaged in dialogue. We got curious about what the others thought & felt. We got raw & called each other out. Most importantly we learned & broadened our views.
We realized that we are more alike than we are different. We were there to help make this world a better place by building love & uniting everyone. That’s what united this group that at first seemed like misfits, & ultimately fit together.
If more #diverse groups got curious & engaged in dialogue, what a better world this would be. I’m all for a movement in #CURIOUS #CONVERSATIONS instead of radical riots. Does anyone else feel this way? #leadership #diversity #theleaderslighthouse #bluemissions
